Network/Systems Administrator

Position Description:
MontaVista Software is searching for a Network/Systems Administrator. In this role, your technical prowess, professionalism, and flexibility will be rewarded with the opportunity to play a major role in the growth and success of both the IT department and the company as a whole. We are searching for a candidate who can not only support our existing infrastructure, but can also bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to the table. The ideal candidate will be a self starter, a person who understands the complexities of a heterogeneous global corporate network and is up to the task of working in a jack-of-all-trades type of sys admin position.
Responsibilities:
- Take the lead role in design, maintenance and configuration of all network infrastructure
- Act as the secondary systems administrator in a 50+ server Linux/Windows environment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware, software and network problems
- Perform maintenance, optimization and documentation of network infrastructure
- Provide after hours and on-call support as part of a rotation
- Inventory and comprehend the capabilities and usage of our current VPN systems, with an eye towards the eventual design and rollout of a single comprehensive VPN solution
- Participate in design and implementation of projects, systems, and procedures to meet department goals
- Learn quickly, demonstrate initiative and share knowledge with team members
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a Network Administrator managing a global network
- 5+ years as a Systems Administrator with experience in Linux or Unix environments (concurrent with Network Admin experience is fine)
- Solid working knowledge of Cisco IOS/COS, VPN management, networking topologies, services and protocols
- Experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services including: DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce coherent and organized documentation
Technologies you should be familiar with:
- Operating System - CentOS 4/5, RedHat Linux, Fedora Core, MS Server 2000 & 2003, Windows XP
- Network - Cisco IOS/COS (and Foundry equivalent), iptables (Linux firewalls), Domain registration, BGP, RIP I/II, OSPF and other routing protocols
- General Linux system administration - Shell scripting (bash, grep, sed, awk, etc), Perl and/or Python scripting, LDAP
- Virtualization - VMware Server, VMware Workstation
- VPN - Sonic Wall VPN, NetScaler
- E-mail – Exchange 2003, Cyrus IMAP, Postfix, Qmail, Spamassassin, ClamAv, Mailman
- Authentication - Open LDAP, NIS
- Monitoring – Nagios, Zenoss, SNMP, etc
- Apache, ProFTP, DNS/Bind , TWiki, PHP, Open AFS, ipvsadm (Linux load balancing)
- Database – MySQL, MS SQL2000
